Placements24 is seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic for our busy Vereeniging workshop. You will diagnose, maintain and repair a fleet of trucks and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have formal diesel mechanic qualifications, strong diesel engine and electrical systems knowledge, and proficiency with heavy-duty diagnostic tools. This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring physical fitness and a valid heavy-vehicle license.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic or truck mechanic.
• Formal trade qualification in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle repair.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, power trains and vehicle electrical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment for heavy-duty vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy vehicle engines, transmissions, brakes and suspensions.
• Carry out preventative maintenance services and inspections.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their busy workshop in Vereeniging . This role is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of their fleet of trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. You will be responsible for performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy vehicle engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance services, including fluid changes, lubrication, and inspections.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems specific to heavy-duty vehicles.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools effectively to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance are carried out to manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of all services performed, parts used, and labor hours.
