Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing on heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, cranes, loaders, industrial processing units).
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across various heavy equipment models.
• Conduct engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and hydraulic system servicing.
• Interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and diagnostic data to guide repairs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical control system faults, including wiring and component issues.
• Maintain accurate service logs, work orders, and inventory of parts and consumables.
• Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and perform tests to ensure repaired machinery meets performance standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Heavy Machinery Maintenance Technician, Mechanic, or similar role, with a focus on heavy industrial or construction equipment.
• In‑depth knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and diagnostic readouts.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, electronic service aids, and a wide range of mechanical tools.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
• Experience with preventative maintenance strategies and execution.
• Must be able to work effectively in a physically demanding environment and potentially in challenging weather conditions common to Richards Bay.
