Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Specialized Transport Driver to handle oversized and heavy loads from Port Elizabeth, now renamed Gqeberha. The role demands meticulous planning, exceptional driving skills, and a steadfast commitment to safety while coordinating escorts and regulatory compliance.

You will plan complex routes, load and unload equipment, maintain detailed records and perform routine inspections.

Qualifications

• Valid PrDP for heavy vehicles (Code 14) and relevant endorsements.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience driving heavy/oversized loads.
• In-depth knowledge of abnormal load transportation regulations in South Africa.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics under pressure.
• Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with route planning tools.
• Strong focus on safety protocols and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized heavy-duty vehicles designed for transporting oversized and overweight loads.
• Plan and execute complex transport routes, considering bridge heights, weight limits, and road conditions.
• Coordinate with escort vehicles, pilot cars, and authorities to ensure safe passage of the load.
• Securely load, transport, and unload specialized equipment and materials.
• Maintain meticulous records of transport activities, permits, and compliance documentation.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on specialized transport equipment.
