Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Healthcare Environmental Services Technician to join its team in Klerksdorp. You will maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment in a healthcare setting, supporting infection prevention and patient well-being.

The role involves cleaning patient rooms, high-risk zones, and common areas, using proper protocols and collaborating with nursing staff. A compassionate, detail-oriented candidate with sanitation knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in environmental services, preferably healthcare.
• Knowledge of infection control principles for hospitals.
• Ability to work with chemicals safely and effectively.
• Physical stamina for standing, bending and lifting during shifts.
• Understanding healthcare regulations and compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating theaters and clinical areas following protocols.
• Sanitize surfaces, equipment and high-touch points to prevent infection spread.
• Manage waste disposal, including biohazardous materials per guidelines.
• Restock supplies in patient rooms and restrooms as needed.
• Operate cleaning equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to support timely care.
