Job summary

Discovery Health, part of Discovery Limited, seeks an Intermediate Data Scientist to leverage clinical, demographic and operational data to delight customers and improve client schemes. You will join a growing, highly specialized team exploring large datasets, applying modern ML techniques, and presenting actionable insights to stakeholders.

You will contribute to production environments and continuously learn while enabling data-driven decisions across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Honours or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
• 2–3 years of work experience in a data science position.
• Experience with big data environments is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to translate insights to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data in a healthcare context.
• Mine large structured and unstructured datasets to extract insights for healthcare efficiency.
• Research and apply modern ML algorithms and AI techniques.
• Present data and model findings in actionable formats for decision-makers.
• Implement results for use in internal and external environments.
• Improve processes and databases where opportunities arise.
