Healthcare Assistant - Theatre (Bank)

Salary: Up to £12.50 per hour (depending on level of experience, training, and qualification)

The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team in the Theatre department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, where you will supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for staff on leave or absence.

Duties of This Role Include
  1. Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
  2. Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
  3. Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
  4. Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
  5. Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
  6. Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
  7. Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria
  1. Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
  2. Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
  3. Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
  4. Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  5. Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
  6. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
  7. Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
