Job summary

Health and Safety Officer - Security Industry

The overall purpose of this position is to ensure that all site-specific security requirements are adhered to and that the client's needs are always efficiently and professionally met. The position entails developing and implementing a proactive approach to all health and safety measures across multiple sites. Effective management of all resources is essential to ensure quality service delivery.

Qualifications, Experience, and Other Competencies Required:

  • Matric certificate with Grade A / B PSIRA registration
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in the Security Industry
  • Knowledge of ISO standards 9001 / 14001 / 27001 / 23001 and their requirements
  • Relevant courses in Organisational and Environmental Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety Management)
  • Experience in SLA and contractual coordination
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage and discipline staff effectively
  • Leadership skills in operational planning and organizational management, along with good interpersonal and client liaison skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and familiarity with modern technology
  • Ability to work under pressure and extended hours when required
  • Valid unendorsed driver’s license, own reliable transport, willing to use for business purposes
  • No criminal record or pending cases
  • Contactable references
  • Reside in the Gauteng (Midrand) area

Job Specification (Not totally inclusive):

  • Maintaining good relations between Fidelity Security Services Group and the client regarding security services
  • Evaluating service levels and recommending improvements
  • Assessing client premises regularly to minimize risks and prevent criminal access
  • Drafting health and safety recommendations based on assessments
  • Ensuring health and safety files are complete and up-to-date
  • Ensuring security officers meet contractual requirements
  • Submitting monthly reports to the client and management
  • Assisting in managing shrinkage budgets
  • Attending meetings with clients and senior management
  • Training security staff and management on client procedures and systems
  • Collaborating with senior management on health and safety issues
