Health & Safety Officer (JB5179) Chintsa, Eastern Cape R18 – 20 000 CTC per month (Negotiable) 3-year Fixed Term Contract
Looking for an experienced Health & Safety Agent to oversee compliance with occupational health and safety regulations for the RDP housing and clinic construction project in Chintsa, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe working conditions, risk management, and regulatory compliance on-site. Candidates that meet all requirements and are available to start by no later than 20 March 2025 are invited to apply.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working on buildings and infrastructure projects.
Registered as a Pr.CHSA with SACPCMP.
Strong knowledge of South African health and safety regulations, including OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
Proficiency in health and safety management systems and reporting tools.
Ability to provide training and enforcement of safety protocols on-site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and compliance plans.
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
Ensure compliance with SACPCMP, OHS Act, and construction health & safety regulations.
Provide health and safety training for project staff, contractors, and site personnel.
Investigate and report on workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Enforce safe work procedures and ensure use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Liaise with government regulators, inspectors, and project stakeholders regarding health and safety compliance.
Prepare safety reports, compliance documentation, and risk mitigation plans.
