Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer for its operations team in Bloemfontein. You will develop, implement and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe workplace, conduct inspections and training, and investigate incidents to uphold compliance with SA health and safety laws.

The role requires a National Diploma in Safety Management, 4+ years of mining or heavy industry experience, SAIOSH registration, and strong leadership and investigative skills.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• Sound knowledge of South African OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and investigative skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety policies in line with legislation.
• Conduct site safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Maintain health and safety records and ensure statutory reporting in Bloemfontein.
