About The Role

Job Purpose

We are looking for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our Brits Manufacturing plant in South Africa. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE standards and strategies. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements, mitigates occupational, environmental, and quality risks, and promotes continuous improvement in HSE performance. The HSE Manager coordinates activities, conducts audits, and fosters a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.

Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring that HSE operational standards are established, implemented, maintained and address the areas of occupational, environmental and quality risk
  • Ensuring that incident/accident reporting is adequate and effective in addressing risk and adequate in terminating or reducing the exposed risk
  • Coordinate HSE activities and report on the performance to the company
  • Develop, implement and monitor HSE strategies, policies and programmes that promote better ways to ensure the success of the organization for all stakeholders
  • Coordinate the identification of significant environmental impacts, Occupational Safety and Health Risk’s, Quality defects, and examine corporate activities to establish where and how improvements can be made and ensure compliance with HSE legislation and other requirements across the organisation.
  • Coordinate the management of continuous improvement within the HSE organization by ensuring that operational standards are established, implemented and maintained and that rigorous processes continually improving the provision of service, quality of process and product, and the mitigation safety, health and environment risk are followed.
  • Review the HSE systems and operations, carrying out HSE audits and assessments, identifying and effectively resolving HSE non-conformities and acting as agent of change
  • Advise in the selection of skills and education programmes for employees at all levels and affirm that the workforce recognize their own contributions to improved HSE performance.
  • Coordinate, implement and maintain strategies to protect and reduce loss of assets through good Security Management in line with applicable legislation and other requirements in a continual changing insecure environment.
  • Ensuring compliance to Legal requirements.


Qualifications & Experience Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Health/Environmental/Safety management or related qualification
  • Certification in SAMTRAC/SHEMTRAC
  • Qualified Lead Internal Auditor would be beneficial
  • ISO 14001 & 5001 certification
  • GMR2 certificate would be beneficial


Experience (years):


  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in HSE Management Systems
  • Working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the automotive industry would be beneficial
  • 4 Years Leadership experience
