Job description

Leading and well-established engineering company based in Wadeville, Germiston requires an experienced Health & Safety Compliance Consultant to oversee the contractors. This is a 6 month fixed term contract.

POSITION INFO :

To ensure contractor safety, legal and site compliance.

To ensure contractors adhere to all Health, Safety, Environment and Quality plans and procedures.

To ensure that all contractor tasks are completed to a satisfactory quality and standard.

To ensure that contractors equipment and consumables are of the required engineering standard.

Correct and report on all defects / deficiencies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

National Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent and / or Qualification in Quality Control

SAMTRAC / Proficient safety / legal knowledge and expertise of the OHS Act

Working knowledge of heavy machinery, contractor management and facilities maintenance

CRITICAL OBJECTIVES :

Generate suitably detailed scope of work requirements and effectively convey these to contractors

Facilitate and coordinate onsite legal documentation including safety plans, HIRA, Toolbox talks and planned task observations with contractors before starting tasks on site

Review product specifications for all equipment and consumables supplied to site to ensure that technical specifications are adhered to

Ensure that contractors meet safety and quality requirements throughout the task and duration on site

Monitor overall contractor performance regarding technical quality and compliance with specification requirements and ensure record keeping is done

Facilitate and inspect the requirements for general building maintenance, plumbing, painting, pressurization and air conditioning infrastructure

Prepare quality assurance documents and conduct QA inspections

Conduct safety training and enforce safety policies

Work with senior managers to identify approaches and methods to improve overall quality

The ability to correct behaviours on site and ensure strict compliance with site policies and procedures
