Summary : The company is looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic person to take on a Health, Safety and Environment role within South Africa, who will help Candi to further deliver premium solar solutions.
Given that Candi is taking solar into a new realm with a new set of tools, the role will require creativity, innovation, and a new way of thinking.The job requires taking ownership of the following for the South African business : Together with HSE team members, take ownership of all of the functions of the HSE department at Candi (which requires proactively identifying issues, providing solutions and effectively communicating these to other departments within Candi)Design a regulatory HSE compliance frameworkDevelop and implement a HSE management system (HSEMS) for solar PV projectsDrive the digitalisation of HSE documentation managementEnsure the Project Management and Asset Management teams and Candi staff apply appropriate HSE standards to Candi offices and sitesProvide training and support to staff and project teams on systems and best practicesLiaise with customers and suppliers regarding Candi's HSE product and training requirementsCoordinate with external HSE consultants where necessary to cover gaps in Candi's HSE resourcing availabilityConduct regular audits and inspections during project execution to ensure compliance with relevant HSE standards, including the management of the sub-contractor HSE compliance on sitesConduct regular audits and inspections during the operational phase to ensure compliance with relevant HSE standardsMonitor and report on HSE performance for solar PV projects during construction and operationsReport on and coordinate the investigation of incidents and accidents, and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrenceCoordinate and prepare the relevant site HSE documentationCollaborate with other departments to ensure that HSE considerations are integrated into all aspects of project planning, design, and executionGroup and local ESG reportingLocation : Location preferred in : JohannesburgFlexibility to work from home on a regular basisTravel to construction sites & assets regularlyHours : Full-time (five days per week)Job Requirements : Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the solar PV industryStrong knowledge of relevant safety, health, environmental, and quality standards and regulationsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesRegistered with SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professionals) as a CHSM (Construction Health and Safety Manager)Legal Liability, OHS Act, Construction Regulations, Lead Auditor qualificationsISO knowledge / QualificationCertified Safety Professional (CSP), certified Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar certification is a plusKnowledge / skill implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental Integrated Management Systems (IMS)Extensive knowledge and experience in Fall Protection and Fall RescueDesire to work in an international environment, sharing ideas and learnings across borders and culturesExperience and confidence in communicating technical topics to all asset stakeholdersCompetent to work independently in an electronic, hybrid, work-from-home environmentCompetent with Microsoft, Google Suite and other electronic platforms is essentialWorking Culture Requirements : You agree to live out the Candi values every day of your employment : this includes putting empathy before ego, being authentic no matter what, that we work as one and following the Candi principle that less is moreA dynamic, cross-functional team player, willing to take initiative on projects in the context of a multicultural scale-up trying to execute big, bold ideasHaving experience working for an international company, or having studied or worked abroad, is considered a plusYou must be open, honest, trustworthy, a strong communicator, and understand that what we get done as a team surpasses what we get done individuallyConsidering that Candi is a global company with offices across South Africa, India and Switzerland computer skills are essential to work, communicate, and function successfully within CandiCandi is an equal opportunities employerCandi is unique because...We focus on helping businesses of all sizes in emerging markets get access to cheap, clean rooftop solar energyWe have a strong emphasis on a client-centric & innovation-driven working cultureWe are an international team where remote working is commonplace, where we trust our team members to actively carve out a role for themselves according to their skill setOnly qualified candidates will be contacted.
