SUMMARY :

Head Of Supply Chain – FMCG Retail

POSITION INFO : Cape Town

International FMCG Retailer is seeking to employ an experienced Head of Supply Chain.

The successful incumbent will take complete responsibility for supply chain management, including sourcing goods from group companies in Europe and ensuring smooth operations of all activities related to physical management and distribution within the third-party logistics provider (3PL) network. This role involves overall responsibility for inbound logistics, value-added activities (co-packing), regional stock availability, and maintaining accurate inventory levels by location. The candidate will have full ownership of SCM function development, including strategy, make-or-buy decisions, planning, product master data, quality and cost control, and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the sourcing process: MRP, purchase orders, IC APO updates, inbound logistics including container planning and stock coverage;
• Oversee warehouse operations, including storage capacity, temperature control, cleanliness, racking, organization, and procedures;
• Maintain stock accuracy, assess damaged or short-dated stock, control pallets, reconcile stock, conduct stock takes, and ensure proper organization and procedures;
• Control all warehouse system stock transactions to align with the order-to-cash process;
• Manage stock locations, ensuring returns, damages, and packaging are accurately controlled;
• Oversee outbound logistics performance, including delivery timeliness, picking accuracy, month-end activities, and logistics costs, with a focus on continuous process improvement and cost savings;
• Manage stock control at retail stores, implementing best practices for accurate stock level maintenance;
• Collaborate with marketing teams on new product launches;
• Work with finance to understand and analyze variances;
• Implement and maintain quality procedures.

• Knowledge of EDI requirements.
