Job description

Applications from qualified individuals are invited for this specialist teaching position in the Primary School, as the Head of Subject for Information Technology.

This role will cover Information Technology and the teaching of coding and robotics, across the Foundation Phase to the Intermediate Phase which is Grade R – Grade 6.

The date of commencement will be the 1st of January 2026.

Selection criteria include:

  • A relevant teaching qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Comprehensive teaching experience and a detailed understanding of the relevant coding and robotics syllabus, in line with ISASA and the CAPS curriculum.
  • The ability to demonstrate full awareness of educational and pedagogical developments, regarding both subject matter and curriculum development.
  • Exposure to PBL and an IBL approach, to teaching and learning.
  • Experience in robotics platforms and basic coding and programming tools.
  • An interest in promoting the integration of IT and multimedia into teaching and learning is essential as Brescia House School is a Microsoft Showcase School.
  • A preference given to candidates who are a Microsoft Certified Educator or have the willingness to obtain an MCE and MIEE certification.
  • Being an MIE expert, Apple Teacher or Google Certified teacher is an advantage.
  • A proven record of commitment, innovation and professionalism toward holistic education and the willingness to embrace rapid changes in education.
  • Proof of registration with SACE.

The successful individuals will be required to:

  • Contribute as an active member of the teaching body of the Primary School, working across the Foundation and the Intermediate Phases.
  • Effective leadership and management of the subject with the overall responsibility for the administration of the subject.
  • Participate in an active and full co-curricular programme, especially in digital learning and driving the coding and robotics clubs.
  • Represent the Primary School on the Innovation and Curriculum committee.
  • The willingness to attend conferences, cluster meetings and organise workshops.
  • Support and motivate the girls by creating a passion and interest in the subject, whilst developing a technology rich learning environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage diverse relationships and interact with a variety of different stakeholders, including parents, across the school.
