Objective of Role

To oversee the Scientific Sales division on a national level, leading the development of sales managers, while maintaining and growing the business and market share of Aspen Pharmacare.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands the company's customer base (GPs, Specialists, KOLs) and ensures a strong presence.
  2. Establish strategies to guide the division.
  3. Analyze the organisation's external operating environment.
  4. Define the shared strategic intent of the division.
  5. Set values and policies to guide the division's work.
  6. Develop divisional business plans aligned with company values.
  7. Market the organisational strategy to garner support across the business.
  8. Analyze industry and market patterns to define data-driven strategies for performance optimization.
  9. Review and allocate available resources effectively.
  10. Evaluate alternative solutions based on urgency.
  11. Develop measures and criteria for evaluating organisational performance.
  12. Present and measure success against the business plan.
  13. Communicate the value proposition effectively through proposals and presentations to ensure buy-in and alignment.
  14. Lead, guide, and direct Sales Managers to implement sales strategies and achieve targets.
  15. Investigate and respond to business environment (market) needs.
  16. Conduct environmental scanning, competitor, and market analysis.
  17. Assess customer needs.
  18. Implement improvements in services and products.
  19. Apply and modify best practice operations continuously.
  20. Gather and communicate feedback from team, customers, and suppliers.
  21. Guide Sales Managers to manage territories effectively and provide insights.
  22. Review and refine processes and procedures.
  23. Research, collect, and document information for operations/projects.
  24. Ensure information aligns with the business plan.
  25. Develop and adopt contingency measures for quality and productivity.
  26. Evaluate work processes against business objectives.
  27. Identify and implement system and process improvements.
  28. Maintain flexibility in decision-making and processes.
  29. Maximize virtual opportunities where appropriate.
  30. Lead through Sales Managers and teams to ensure prompt query resolution within policy.
  31. Handle strategic and escalated customer interactions professionally.
  32. Continuously seek methods to improve customer service within the Scientific Team.
  33. Keep internal and external customers updated on query progress.
  34. Identify manpower needs for maximum productivity.
  35. Prepare budgets based on operational requirements.
  36. Establish sales objectives through forecasting and setting annual targets.
  37. Evaluate expenditure proposals and prepare annual budgets.
  38. Monitor and review expenditure against budgets.
  39. Report on budgets monthly.
  40. Lead and guide sales managers, holding them accountable for team performance.
  41. Use reporting and analytics to validate data quality and guide improvements.
  42. Align individual and team goals; clearly define roles.
  43. Conduct regular performance discussions to identify development needs.
  44. Ensure the division operates effectively and aligns with organizational goals, strategies, and values.
  45. Resolve IR issues and address performance issues promptly.
  46. Resolve potential conflicts per IR procedures and take disciplinary actions when necessary.
  47. Lead and evaluate restructuring efforts within the division for success.
  48. Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to enhance staff development and motivation.
  49. Facilitate and evaluate team effectiveness against standards, ensuring timely on-the-job feedback.
