Job description

Job Description : The Head of Reinsurance Accounting is responsible for the full end-to-end Reinsurance Accounting and Analytics process. This role involves participating in designing the Reinsurance strategy and implementing data and systems requirements.

The position also includes involvement in optimization efforts to help determine a recommended Reinsurance structure.

Key Performance Areas : Functional Management

1. Full responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual Reinsurance reporting and analysis.
2. Sourcing, reconciling, and managing Reinsurance data modeling requirements.
3. Designing and implementing system and process solutions for Reinsurance agreements.
4. Participating actively in Reinsurance forum meetings.
5. Managing Internal and External Audit engagement issues.
6. Ensuring Reinsurance Claims are fully recovered and accurately accounted for across all treaties.
7. Setting and achieving financial Reinsurance targets up to R1 billion.
8. Advising on Reinsurance strategy, including the SAM impacts.
9. Providing input into Capital modeling and management.
10. Assisting with the compilation of Risk profiles.
11. Maintaining full accountability for Reinsurance governance and controls.

Qualifications & Requirements :

• Matric
• CA (SA) qualification highly preferred
• At least 10 years of experience in Insurance, with 5 years in Reinsurance
• Proactive in managing personal development and encouraging others to do the same.
• Experience in leading a team and completing performance management cycles for direct reports.
• Effective communication skills
• Negotiation skills
• Problem-solving abilities
• High-level influencing skills, involving persuading or countering opposition
