Job Purpose:
Responsible for leading and overseeing the execution of all electrical engineering, construction and industrial projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, compliance with contractual obligations (FIDIC, GCC, JBCC), and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing complex projects within the electrical infrastructure sector.
Qualifications:
Please note: Only applicants possessing a recognized qualification in Electrical Engineering will be considered for this position.
- Matric (Grade 12)
- ND in Electrical Engineering
- Btech/Degree in Electrical Engineering (Advantage)
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience management in industrial projects
- 5 years’ experience in a senior project management role overseeing electrical infrastructure projects.
- Proficient understanding of plant maintenance or installations and Electrical Designs. .
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Governance:
- Establish, manage, and maintain the PMO’s frameworks, methodologies, and standards in line with PMBOK/PRINCE2 guidance
- Align project objectives with business strategy and prioritize the portfolio based on organizational impact.
- Enforce governance standards and compliance across all projects.
- Develop a project portfolio strategy that balances business value and resources.
Project Oversight & Execution:
- Oversee the full project lifecycle initiation to close-out with robust controls on scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Monitor performance metrics (cost, schedule, risks) and prepare reports for senior management.
- Identify and address execution bottlenecks across Engineering, Workshop & Installations, Procurement/Warehouse, and SHEQ streams.
- Manage contractual compliance across FIDIC, JBCC, GCC, or NEC contracts and control claims.
Resource Management:
- Lead and develop a team of project managers and support staff.
- Allocate budgets, manpower, equipment, and materials to ensure project adequacy.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to the project team
- Maintain a comprehensive risk register and mitigation plan.
- Monitor risk throughout project lifecycles and implement necessary adjustments.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
- Promote PM best practices; refine tools, templates, and processes across the PMO
- Drive process automation, workflow optimization, and continual improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to departmental policy development and align with industry standards (e.g., ISO, PMBoK, PMO functions)
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Act as the key PMO contact point for the executive team and external stakeholders.
- Build and sustain relationships with clients, consultants, internal departments, and suppliers.
- Ensure transparent, timely, and actionable communication on status, risks, and outcomes.
Financial & Budget Control:
- Monitor project financial performance including cost forecasting, billing, cash flow, and cost optimization.
- Ensure financial accountability without compromising quality
General & Training Development
- To undertake professional development activities to maintain and extent competence.
- Maintain and extend professional competence (e.g., PMP, ECSA, SACPCMP).
- Participate in client-specific training.
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post as required from time to time.
