Your Chance to Transform Financial Inclusion Across Africa

Imagine leading a team that's revolutionising access to financial services for millions of people who have been historically underserved. At M-KOPA, this isn't just a vision—it's our daily reality, and we need a visionary Head of Product to take this mission to the next level.

Why This Role Matters

Every day, people across Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Uganda are using M-KOPA's mobile app to access credit, savings, insurance, and payment products that transform their financial futures. As our Head of Product, you'll be the driving force behind these innovations, working at the intersection of technology, finance, and social impact.

This isn't your typical product leadership role. Here, your decisions directly impact not only business growth but also create pathways to financial inclusion for communities that traditional financial institutions have overlooked. The digital products you shape will become lifelines for families building better futures.

What Your Journey With Us Looks Like

You'll join an environment where ego takes a backseat to impact. Your days will be spent collaborating with brilliant minds across Engineering, Design, Analytics, and Commercial teams. Together, you'll craft strategies that balance business objectives with genuine customer needs.

When you bring your 5+ years of product management experience and 2+ years of team leadership to M-KOPA, you'll find yourself empowered to make meaningful decisions. You'll have the autonomy to develop product visions that are backed by data and driven by a deep understanding of our users' realities.

As you guide multiple product managers, you'll help them grow while ensuring our products evolve throughout their lifecycle. Your analytical skills will shine as you conduct complex data analysis that informs strategic direction. And your collaborative approach will strengthen teams working across multiple countries.

The Difference You'll Make

Picture yourself visiting customers in rural Kenya, witnessing firsthand how your product decisions create economic opportunity. Imagine celebrating with your team in Lagos as a new feature dramatically improves customer retention. Envision the satisfaction of knowing that the savings product you helped develop is funding education for thousands of children.

At M-KOPA, success isn't measured solely by metrics on a dashboard—though those matter too. It's measured by transformed lives and communities empowered through greater financial access.

A Day in Your Life at M-KOPA

Your hybrid work arrangement gives you flexibility while keeping you connected to both our office environment and the customers we serve. One day, you might be collaborating with engineers on platform improvements; the next, you could be in the field, gathering insights directly from users about their experiences. You'll travel between our markets, ensuring our solutions address the unique needs of diverse communities.

You'll build deep knowledge of how our customers engage with our products, cultivate a culture of psychological safety and accountability across your teams, and promote data-driven decision-making at every level. When needed, you might even step directly into a product manager role to fill gaps or gain deeper experience in specific areas.

Is This Your Next Challenge?

If you've developed digital B2C products, especially financial services or products for underserved markets, M-KOPA offers you a chance to apply your expertise where it creates exceptional impact. Your experience with agile methodologies and cross-functional leadership will find a perfect home in our collaborative environment.

We're looking for someone who brings not just skills but passion—someone who sees the potential for technology to create lasting financial partnerships that change lives. Someone who values diversity, embraces innovation, and leads with both data and empathy.

Join us at M-KOPA, and help write the next chapter in Africa's financial inclusion story. Your product leadership journey here won't just advance your career—it will advance our mission of creating transformative lifetime financial partnerships with millions of customers across the continent.

Based in one of our markets—Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, or Uganda—you'll be at the heart of where innovation meets impact.
