About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding enterprise in the services sector, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Operations Management to lead their core business functions in Johannesburg, Gauteng . This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operational delivery, driving efficiency, and ensuring the achievement of strategic business objectives. You will manage multiple departments, implement operational best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in senior operational leadership, exceptional strategic thinking capabilities, and the ability to inspire and guide large teams. This position offers a dynamic hybrid work model, enabling collaboration with the Johannesburg team while providing flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals. Oversee the day-to-day management of all operational departments, ensuring seamless service delivery. Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and effectiveness. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational functions. Manage budgets for operational departments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource allocation. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations managers and staff. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and company policies. Identify and mitigate operational risks, developing contingency plans as needed. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. Champion a culture of innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction within the operations team.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Demonstrated success in managing large, complex operational functions and driving significant improvements. Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. Excellent financial acumen, including budget management and cost control. In-depth understanding of operational best practices and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is highly desirable. Experience within the Johannesburg or broader Gauteng business environment is advantageous. Adaptability to a hybrid work structure, with a proactive approach to communication and team engagement.
