Job summary

Pinehurst Primary School (the Green School) in Pinelands, Cape Town, is seeking a Music Head of Department (SGB post) to start in April 2027. The successful candidate will lead the dynamic music department, coordinate timetables, and oversee ensembles, choir, and orchestra while supporting classroom music and performing arts development.

The role requires a B.Mus Ed degree (or equivalent), SACE registration, and proven administrative ability to manage part-time teachers within the department.

Due to the retirement of our present incumbent, we are looking for a Music HOD (SGB post) starting from April 2027.

Requirements

• B.Mus Ed Degree (or other appropriate music education degree)
• SACE Registered
• Proven administrative ability with the ability to manage part-time teachers within a department
• Experience in teaching class music / performing arts.
• The ability to teach music theory and at least two musical instruments (please state instruments).
• Ensemble, Orchestra and choir experience.
