Job summary

Placements24's client, a forward-thinking entertainment technology studio in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks a Lead Music Composer to spearhead the audio direction for upcoming interactive projects. You will conceptualize, compose, and implement original scores to enhance immersion and narrative depth, lead a team of composers and sound designers, and collaborate with designers and artists.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a composer for video games or interactive media.
• Portfolio showing diverse musical styles and scores.
• Strong knowledge of DAWs and game audio workflows.
• Experience with adaptive/procedural music systems.
• Familiarity with Wwise and FMOD middleware.
• Excellent music theory, harmony, and orchestration.
• Leadership and ability to mentor a team.
• Effective communication and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Music Composition or related field, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Compose original scores for video games and VR experiences.
• Develop adaptive music systems reacting to in-game events.
• Lead and mentor a team of composers and sound designers.
• Collaborate with designers, writers, and artists to align music with vision.
• Oversee audio integration into Unity/Unreal engine.
• Manage music asset pipeline: recording, mixing, mastering.
• Research new audio tech and push creative boundaries.
• Present musical concepts and final scores to stakeholders.
• Ensure music content meets deadlines and quality standards.
