DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join one of the largest South African owned IPPs. Key focus areas of the role include the Business’ consolidated results, flowing up from underlying Project & other Companies, and then to the Business' shareholders; the Business’ funding requirements, managing these, and implementing the best structure for such funding; cashflow management – distributions received, operational profits, ideal timing and managing of cash reserves; new project pipeline funding requirements, such as pre-financial close costs, Guarantees, shareholder and lender funding structures, etc. and integrated & innovative financial reporting.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or commerce, CA (SA)
  • CFA qualification (advantageous)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 15+ years in senior finance roles, preferably in renewable energy, energy, banking, or infrastructure
  • Experience in scaling medium-sized businesses into large enterprises, including exposure to large-scale infrastructure transactions and project lifecycle accounting
  • Expertise in financial engineering and reporting
  • Asset/Liability management experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Along with the CFO, HoFO and the Executive Committee, be a key role player in financial strategy development and enabling its execution
  • Support to CFO in preparing Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts, and financial reports for management, shareholders and lenders
  • Oversight and management of the valuations process and procedure for the Business and its project companies, ensuring timeous reporting on company valuations and acting on information and trends that flow from such regular valuation updates
  • Capital and Liquidity management, including reporting on and managing a range of metrics including RoNAV, NPV, IRR and cover ratios
  • Management of relationship with the Business’ shareholders, lenders, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Preparation of quarterly updates flowing from the Business and underlying project companies’ financial models and then acting on any changes and improvements that may be required from such updates, and actively seeking ways to improve on the returns and financial structures of all the companies
  • Prepare information for board packs; investor updates, investment committees; project updates and other ad hoc financial reporting information
  • Development of finance-related strategic matters (hedging, distributions, cash flows, finance issues, technical issues)
  • Treasury and cash management including interest rate and foreign exchange exposure, and continuously looking to maintain and improve agreements and or structures that are in place across the Business and its project companies
  • With the CFO and HoFO, lead initiatives to strategically maximise shareholder returns, including group cost management initiatives
  • Establish appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that the reporting systems are fit for purpose and are being utilised effectively

Governance & Compliance

  • Understand the relevant finance agreements that have been negotiated and put in place, and ensure compliance with such agreements
  • Ensure adequate assessment and mitigation of financial risk as well as compliance with applicable regulatory or other legal legislation
  • Compliance with tax, legislative and statutory requirements
