Head of Finance sought by a family-owned agricultural group in the Eastern Free State. This hands-on role leads the strategic finance function, including budgeting, cash-flow, and governance, with a focus on agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Report to management and help shape the group’s strategic plans.

• Manage tax processes including provisional tax, VAT, and compliance.
• Lead internal audits across financial functions.
• Coordinate with auditors, legal, labour consultant and banks.
• Lead the finance and admin team and approve monthly salaries.
• Perform corporate secretarial duties for group companies and trusts.
• Ensure governance and compliance with CIPC, SARS, EE, COIDA and SDL.

An established, family-owned agricultural group is looking for a passionate, hands-on Head of Finance to join their team in the family-friendly, rural Eastern Free State.

The role combines financial leadership, tax and regulatory compliance, budgeting, cash-flow management, team development and oversight of key HR processes.

The role is ideal for a finance professional passionate about agriculture who is willing to relocate and embrace the scenic rural lifestyle of the Free State, with a housing option near the farm included in the remuneration package.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to management and support the development and implementation of the group’s strategic plans.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management, including cash, debtors, creditors, and inventory.
• Manage provisional tax, EMP201 and VAT processing, reporting and payments.
• Conduct quarterly internal audits across all financial functions.
• Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, legal, the labour consultant and financial institutions.
• Lead and manage the finance and admin team.
• Authorise monthly salary payments and manage HR processes.
• Perform corporate secretarial duties for group companies and trusts.
• Ensure corporate governance and compliance with CIPC, SARS, EE, COIDA and SDL requirements.

Qualification and Experience:

• A professional designation such as SAICA/CIMA/SAIPA is non-negotiable.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in a Financial Leadership position.
• Experience in the agricultural industry or similar is preferred.
