They operate in the promo merchandise space, focusing on buying and selling (no manufacturing or stock holding), with significant import activity.

Job Purpose

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the accounting and financial activities of Africa, Middle East and Central / West Asia (9 countries). This role is approximately 30% strategic and 70% operational.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Create monthly and annual reports as required to identify results, trends, contract profitability and financial forecasts.
  2. Manage cash flow and treasury through regular forecasting.
  3. Supervise, manage, and develop the Finance Department staff.
  4. Constantly optimize the utilization of the various accounting and reporting systems throughout the business.
  5. Ensure completeness and accuracy of all financial transactions and comply with government regulations and legislation.
  6. Lead the auditing processes with the external auditors and financial service providers to ensure proper compliance with all statutory regulations.
  7. Production of yearly Statutory Accounts.
  8. Lead the company's annual budgeting, planning, and forecasting process.
  9. Submit Corporation Tax, PAYE, and VAT returns in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  10. Provide key business insight to aid key strategic decision-making and formulating business strategies.
  11. Advise on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions.
  12. Interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers.
  13. Liaise with other function managers in order to build awareness and accountability for functional budgets.
  14. Implement and embed corporate governance procedures, risk management, and internal controls across the organization.
Skills Required
  1. Qualified CA(SA) with 5-10 years of post-articles experience.
  2. Experience in the marketing services industry and Africa experience is highly relevant.
  3. Strong knowledge of Accounting, Management Accounting, Tax, and Excel is essential.
  4. Familiarity with Sales Taxes and cross-border trading and completion of regulatory returns.
  5. Experienced working across multiple territories in a fast-moving global business.
  6. Well-versed in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  7. Experience managing a team of at least 3-4 people is important.
  8. Experience managing offshore / remote teams is a job requirement.
  9. Familiarity with ERP systems is required.
  10. Able to manage a small team ensuring they are motivated and developing in their professional standards.
  11. Can work under pressure with multiple demands and tight deadlines in a dynamic business environment.
  12. Initiates planning and performance improvement.

Cultural Fit

Work Arrangement

3 days/week in the JHB office are required. International travel may be required.
