Position Overview
This critical role is responsible for leading the group-wide financial planning and analysis, treasury operations, and risk management activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial oversight and the complexities of managing liquidity, foreign exchange, and financial reporting.

The role also includes providing strategic insights, advising management teams, and collaborating with external stakeholders to drive sound financial decision-making across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Planning & Analysis:
    Budget and Forecast Management: Oversee the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts, ensuring accurate financial planning for the group.
  2. Operational Oversight:
    Review operational budgets and forecast presentations, and participate in monthly management meetings for operational companies.
  3. Consolidated Reporting:
    Prepare the groups consolidated budget and presentation for the board, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  4. Performance Analysis:
    Conduct variance analysis between forecast and actual performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing solutions.
  5. Financial Modelling:
    Create models to showcase historical and projected financial performance, including covenant calculations for debt providers.
  6. Strategic Business Planning:
    Contribute to the development of the groups five-year business plan, focusing on operations, cost management, and achieving financial targets.
  7. Due Diligence:
    Prepare financial data and collaborate with due diligence providers to assess business operations and customer/product profiles.
  8. Team Coaching:
    Provide guidance and coaching to financial managers, ensuring alignment with group business objectives.
  9. Treasury & Risk Management:
    Liquidity Management: Oversee the management and optimization of the groups liquidity and assess risks associated with foreign exchange compliance & Risk Monitoring: Ensure compliance with financial covenants, facility undertakings, and SARB regulations.
  10. Monitor and manage interest rate and foreign exchange risks.
  11. Policy Development:
    Create and maintain treasury-related operational policies, procedures, and systems to manage risks effectively.
  12. Banking Relationships:
    Manage the groups banking platforms and maintain relationships with debt providers and treasury technology service providers.
  13. Risk Mitigation:
    Identify, assess, and mitigate business risks across the group, including maintaining the risk matrix and incident reporting.
  14. Insurance Program Oversight:
    Own and manage the groups insurance activities, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance.
  15. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    IFRS Reporting: Manage monthly financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  16. Statutory Reporting: Oversee the groups statutory financial reporting, including consolidated reports and tax compliance across all entities.
  17. Audit Support: Prepare for external audits, ensuring all necessary records and documentation are in place for compliance and audit trails.
  18. Tax Management: Oversee tax-related activities, including the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory submissions.
  19. Policy Implementation: Ensure that all accounting issues are resolved and new policies are implemented in accordance with accounting standards.
  20. Other Responsibilities:
    Corporate Restructuring: Provide input into the accounting and tax aspects of corporate restructuring and group simplifications.
  21. Head Office Oversight: Manage the financial processes for head office entities, including monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and compliance with financial controls.
  22. BBBEE Compliance: Oversee monthly BBBEE reporting and manage the BBBEE verification audit.

Education & Experience Requirements

  1. Qualifications:
    CA(SA) or CIMA essential. ACI Dealing Certificate is advantageous.
  2. Experience:
    Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience. Industry Exposure: Experience within FMCG or retail industries is advantageous.
  3. Core Competencies:
    Strong business acumen with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Skilled at building collaborative relationships with senior leadership and diverse teams.
