Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering function and contribute to the overall technology vision of Health by Design. Our ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in software development, deep expertise in system architecture, and demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams. This part-time virtual role requires hands-on technical leadership experience with third-party platform integrations and a data-driven mindset, including proficiency in technologies like Snowflake.

Duties / Responsibilities:

1. Team Culture and Growth

• People Development: Cultivate a high-performing engineering team through mentoring, coaching, and continuous feedback.
• Support the professional growth of team members and identify opportunities for skills development.

• Collaborate with Talent and Human Resources Team to attract top technical talent.
• Build a diverse, inclusive, and mission-aligned team while minimizing attrition and maintaining a strong pipeline of future leaders.

• Champion a collaborative, open, and psychologically safe working environment.
• Promote transparency, trust, and empowerment within engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Establish engineering rituals such as tech talks, pair programming sessions, retrospectives, and hack days to strengthen team cohesion and knowledge sharing.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or applicable technology certifications.
• 10 years of experience in software development and engineering roles
• 5 years of experience in a leadership position, preferably as a Technical Lead or similar
