Job summary

Hire Resolve is seeking an Emerging Technology COE Head (Software Engineering) in Johannesburg to drive the software engineering strategy, governance and technology roadmap for secure, scalable enterprise solutions.

You will lead enterprise software teams, champion Agile, DevSecOps and modern delivery practices, and partner with Product, Architecture and Infrastructure to achieve business objectives while managing budgets and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading enterprise Software Engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of modern software architecture and engineering best practices.
• Experience with cloud-native application development using Azure and/or AWS.
• Proven expertise in DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile at Scale methodologies.
• Solid understanding of engineering governance, quality assurance, and software delivery standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and engage executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide technology transformation initiative

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Software Engineering strategy and roadmap.
• Build, lead, and mentor high-performing Software Engineering teams.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
• Drive the adoption of Agile, DevSecOps, and modern software engineering methodologies.
• Oversee the development, delivery, and maintenance of enterprise applications.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to deliver business objectives.
• Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic technology initiatives.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineering leaders to strengthen leadership capability across the organisation.
