Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Full Professor

NB: Priority will be given to applications received first.

Full Professor

A Doctoral Degree in the relevant Department (Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing and Retail Studies, Public Management)

  • Minimum of 10 years teaching experience.
  • At least 10 DHET-accredited research outputs in the past 3 years.
  • Supervision and graduation of at least 5 master’s and 3 doctoral students.
  • Sustained external research funding.
  • Evidence of collaborative linkages and external engagement.

or

Associate Professor

  • Doctoral Degree in the relevant Department.
  • At least 7 years of academic and/or professional experience.
  • At least 7 DHET-accredited research outputs in the past 3 years.
  • Successful postgraduate supervision: at least 1 doctoral and 2 master’s students graduated.

or

  • Doctoral Degree in the relevant Department.
  • Five years’ experience in higher education.
  • Produced or published at least three scholarly works in the last three years.
  • Supervised at least one postgraduate student at master’s level.

For Senior Lecturer, proof of teaching excellence is required, demonstrated by:

  • Exceptional subject knowledge.
  • Excellent classroom and tutorial performance.
  • Use of innovative teaching and assessment methods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recognition as an effective academic advisor.
  • Curriculum development and pedagogical philosophy.

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

Duration

Five-year fixed-term contract, renewable based on performance.

* Key duties include:

  • Managing student queries and complaints.
  • Leading staff in teaching, research, and community engagement.
  • Representing the department externally.
  • Overseeing academic management, including workload and leave.
  • Managing departmental budgets and resources.
  • Driving faculty projects like postgraduate recruitment and community engagement.

  • Leadership and independence.

Head of Department allowance: R10,000/month including cell phone allowance.
