Head of Department : Senior and FET Phase

The Love Trust is an established, trusted South African charitable not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality Christian education to vulnerable children through Nokuphila School and empowering women to become qualified early childhood development teachers.

We maintain a high pass rate for Grade 7 learners, and many ECD teachers have qualified through our programs.

The Opportunity

The Love Trust seeks to appoint a Head of Department for the Senior and FET Phase on a permanent, full-time basis.

As the Senior and FET Phase Head of Department (HOD), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality classroom instruction and overseeing the department's efficient operation.

You will also organize extracurricular activities that promote the subject, learning area, and phase, ensuring the holistic development of learners and contributing to the broader mission, strategic objectives, and sustainability of The Love Trust.

Requirements include:

• South African recognized BEd in Senior Phase and FET Teaching
• Preferably postgraduate or Honours in education management
• At least five years' teaching experience or knowledge in all high school subjects relevant to senior and FET phases
• Minimum of three years' leadership experience in an equitable school phase
• Experience teaching in vulnerable communities and with learners with special needs
• Critical thinking skills for assessment and learner development
• Effective communication skills for explaining concepts at an age-appropriate level
• Strong writing skills for learner reports and program reporting
• Creativity in lesson planning to ensure effective learning
• Computer literacy, including MS Office, PowerPoint, and report writing
• Knowledge of relevant teaching and learning methods for the age group
• Community development knowledge
• Psycho-social and counselling skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet The Love Trust's goals and learning outcomes, including willingness to change subjects and grades as needed
