Job description

This dual-role position encompasses both technical leadership and managerial responsibilities. You will be responsible for managing a high-performing control systems engineering team, overseeing complex system integration projects, and ensuring the delivery of innovative, high-quality automation solutions tailored to client needs.

Key Responsibilities :

Managerial :

  • Lead and mentor the control systems engineering team.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to company quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, timely delivery, and budget adherence.
  • Liaise with other departments and clients to ensure seamless service delivery and project success.
  • Conduct reporting on project progress, safety, and quality.
  • Drive team development through strategic training and certification planning.

Technical :

  • Design, develop, and test control and automation systems, including PLC, SCADA, HMI, and OT applications.
  • Create robust system architectures and industrial communication networks (Ethernet, fibre, Profinet, etc.).
  • Develop simulation tools for testing and training.
  • Ensure solutions meet customer requirements through detailed functional designs and thorough testing.
  • Provide post-project support, client training, and service-level agreement (SLA) response.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Degree or NQF equivalent in Systems, Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation.
  • Minimum 5 years in a project or departmental management role.
  • Hands-on experience with control system design, development, FAT testing, and commissioning.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell, Omron, Beckhoff, Mitsubishi).
  • SCADA / HMI development experience (e.g., Aveva, Siemens, Adroit).
  • Proficiency in SQL databases and Microsoft Reporting Services.
  • Experience with MES, BMS, or EMS systems is advantageous.
  • Exposure to FMCG, Food & Beverage, or Milling industries is beneficial.
