Introduction: Applications are invited for the position of Head of Data Management based at Head Office (Bruma).

The successful applicant will report to the Chief Technology & Information Officer.

Overview : To provide strategic and tactical leadership for the data management function in line with the organisational vision and strategy. The role involves leading and guiding the development and utilisation of data systems, implementing policies and processes for effective data management, and ensuring data security and confidentiality. The Head of Data Management will optimize data systems, unlock insights, and support data-driven decision-making, utilizing skills in analytics, mathematics, and statistics to inform stakeholders across the organisation.

Major Activities include:

1. Develop, implement, and manage a data management strategy aligned with organisational goals.
2. Provide technical expertise for tactical and operational initiatives.
3. Ensure system performance and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
4. Participate in strategic planning activities.
5. Provide leadership in data management best practices.
6. Define and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures.
7. Establish data ownership, stewardship, and governance structures.
8. Develop and manage data management policies, including security, legal handling, and sharing of data.
9. Analyze and interpret large datasets.
10. Ensure training and compliance regarding data management tools and governance.
11. Develop a data risk management framework and conduct security audits.
12. Collaborate with teams to design data architectures supporting business needs.
13. Evaluate and implement data management tools, including emerging technologies like AI and quantum computing.
14. Monitor data quality and drive continuous improvement.
15. Manage data archival and disposal processes.
16. Build relationships with stakeholders and manage SLAs.
17. Contribute to departmental budgeting and manage finances accordingly.
18. Lead and coordinate the data management team to ensure skill development and high performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.Eng. or BSc in Computer Science or related fields such as Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Data Management, Information Systems, IT, or Data Analytics.
• Postgraduate Degree in relevant fields is advantageous.
• At least 8 years of experience in IT, data management, or engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in management within complex operations, preferably in air traffic services/management.
• Proven experience with database technologies and data administration.
• Knowledge of data management tools and emerging technologies.
