The Warehouse Assistant plays a pivotal role in the overall efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the seamless flow of goods within the warehouse, from their arrival to dispatch, while maintaining accuracy, organization, and safety.
Role Requirements
Receiving :
- Identify the origin of shipments (Branch, customer, or supplier), the type of stock order received (Customer Return, Inter-Company Transfer, Local, or International), and the intended destination (Richmond Park or another branch).
- Physically place receipted stock in the designated storage location (Lighting, Energy, Utilities, Residential, Platform, SUS, etc.).
- Report any damaged, short-supplied, or over-supplied stock (Discrepancies) to the supervisor and procurement, and document accordingly. Follow up on discrepancies to ensure resolution within 5 days.
Storage :
- Store receipted stock in the correct warehouse location.
- Package items to minimize damages during storage and transport, adhering to company policies and safety practices.
- Ensure secure loading and unloading to prevent damage.
- Remove damaged stock from shelves and coordinate with stock control for appropriate actions.
- Identify shipment destinations and types, and plan daily activities to meet delivery commitments.
Packaging :
- Package items to reduce damage and maintain presentation standards.
- Label loose items according to SOP.
Dispatch :
- Coordinate deliveries to support company objectives.
- Manage transportation quotes to ensure timely deliveries within budget.
- Scan all PODs from the previous day before COB.
- Verify delivery details and liaise with dispatch controllers for equipment readiness.
Documentation :
- Record quantities and qualities during processing; seek assistance for discrepancies and obtain supervisor approval.
- Store documentation as per SOP.
- Ensure all documentation bears signatures from both the sender and receiver.
Health & Safety :
- Implement and enforce health and safety policies.
- Conduct safety audits and staff training.
- Arrange vehicle inspections and operate vehicles in compliance with laws.
Computer Literacy / Systems :
Intermediate proficiency in Windows and MS Office.
Knowledge, Education, Skills & Experience :
