What you will do

The Head of Compliance will be responsible for ensuring that Volvo Group Southern Africa complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws relating to areas covered by the Volvo Group Code of Conduct. This includes empowering and supporting management and staff in relevant requirements, overseeing notification and reporting obligations, and working with management to identify and manage regulatory risks. The role involves implementing AB Volvo/Volvo Trucks and Volvo Group Southern Africa compliance policies, maintaining documented procedures and controls, and driving harmonization in compliance issues across the company.

The role is a member of the Volvo Trucks Executive Leadership Team and Volvo Group Southern Africa's Country Management Team (CMT). It also involves collaboration with Volvo Trucks International and the Volvo Trucks Legal and Compliance, Business Control, and People and Culture teams.

We are looking for a committed, driven team player with excellent problem-solving and communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in risk management, corporate governance, and regulatory trends, acting as a thought leader in Compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership abilities and sound judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, guidelines, controls, and global regulations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Polished interpersonal skills
  • Proactive stakeholder management at national and international levels
  • Senior-level experience in compliance governance

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a large business environment
  • Professional certification such as CCEP (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional)
  • Member of the Compliance Institute of SA
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
