Job description

South Africa's leading online retailer is looking for a highly talented Head of Brand & Communications to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Your responsibilities will include:
  1. Developing and managing brand strategy & ATL campaigns.
  2. Creating integrated communication plans to increase brand awareness across ATL, PR, retail marketing, and digital channels.
  3. Implementing communication plans and ensuring consistent application of the 'Takealot' brand tone across all channels.
  4. Managing the brand tone and ensuring cohesive communication to customers.
  5. Overseeing the communications budget and maximizing its effectiveness.
  6. Leading corporate and consumer PR, media campaigns, and crisis communications.
  7. Building relationships with media to secure coverage and managing press releases.
  8. Monitoring media coverage and managing PR opportunities.
  9. Developing internal communication strategies and leading brand extensions for Marketplace & Private Label.
  10. Reporting on brand metrics and managing team performance, including a Brand Manager, Social Media Manager, Copywriter, and Content Producer.
  11. Creating content for print, online, email marketing, website, press releases, videos, and collateral.
  12. Ensuring quality control in all brand communications and proofreading customer-facing messages.
  13. Handling special project communications related to branding.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Communications, Copywriting, or English.
  • At least 5+ years in communications, content production, or brand management.
  • Experience managing external agencies (ATL and PR).
  • Experience with corporate and consumer PR, including crisis management.
