Job Title: Head of Advisory Services

The Head of Advisory Services is responsible for leading the advisory team and overseeing the delivery of strategic advice to clients. This role involves managing client relationships, developing advisory strategies, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of advisory services, and driving the growth and performance of the advisory department.

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of advisors to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Set clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the advisory team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews—monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Ensure team adherence to standardized processes.
  • Develop collaboration strategies with other BU heads to drive client growth and satisfaction.
  • Provide accurate monthly reporting and data analysis.
  • Utilize client data to drive team initiatives and achieve results.
  • Drive results in quality referrals of ESD & Skills.
  • Identify client risks and proactively escalate within the Exco team.
  • Recommend areas of improvement across the advisory landscape to management.
  • Promote client retention through quality advisory services.
  • Oversee preparation and presentation of advisory reports, gap analyses, and other deliverables.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained through review of client strategic plans and reports, consulting the Technical Committee as needed.
  • Participate effectively in the Technical Committee, fulfilling assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership emotional intelligence in conflict resolution, meetings, employee and client engagement.

Advisory Consultant Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advisory strategies aligned with clients' goals.
  • Provide advisory on B-BBEE system to optimize scores, both on-site and remotely.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs for tailored advice.
  • Analyze financial, supply chain, skills development, and payroll data to assess compliance, risks, and gaps.
  • Monitor strategic plan implementation, providing feedback on B-BBEE scores, improvements, and risks.
  • Conduct pre- and post-audit reviews and support audit processes.
  • Meet referral and performance metrics regularly.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Head of Operations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree
  • Management Development Program (MDP)
  • Expertise in B-BBEE legislation

Experience and Attributes

  • At least 5 years’ experience managing client portfolios in SaaS B-BBEE industry or as verification analyst.
  • Deep understanding of sector codes and B-BBEE legislation.
  • Proven leadership in advisory and support teams for B-BBEE compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to work across matrix teams.
  • Experience in problem-solving, process design, and client advisory development.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and other relevant tools.
  • Track record of client retention and cross-selling, preferably in SaaS environments.
  • Customer-focused, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of handling stress and deadlines efficiently.
