Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • 7 years of experience in the same field and 3 years’ experience in the same position as Head Nurse Medical Ward.
  • Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Dataflow is a must.
  • Saudi license holder is a plus.
  • Fluent in English.

Job description and responsibilities:

The Head Nurse of the Medical Ward is responsible for the overall management and leadership of nursing staff and patient care within the medical unit. This role involves ensuring high standards of care, promoting a safe environment, and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. The Head Nurse will report directly to the Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing.

  • Supervise nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of team performance.
  • Promote professional development through mentoring, training, and support for continuing education.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new nursing staff.
  • Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Advocate for patients and families, providing education and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing practices to ensure compliance with best practices and quality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and implement changes based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Manage scheduling and staffing to maintain optimal nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Assist in budget preparation and resource management for the unit.
  • Foster effective communication among staff, patients, and families.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff and medical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Report on unit performance and patient outcomes to upper management.
