HEAD OF CORPORATE ACTUARIAL

We are recruiting for the position of Head of Corporate Actuarial at a leading insurance company specializing in insurance products for employees across various industries, including COID cover, occupational injuries, funeral cover, and more.

The Head of Corporate Actuarial, reporting to the Executive Actuary, will oversee a team of actuarial professionals ensuring timely and accurate life and non-life actuarial valuations. The role also involves developing and maintaining the actuarial valuation system and ensuring data integrity.

An essential part of this role is supporting the business with insights and preparing reports for the executive and committees.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Management of the actuarial function: Oversee actuarial teams working on COID and Life Business, support the AIT (IT) business, and ensure proper management of valuation data and processes.
  2. Regulatory and reporting: Respond to actuarial queries from regulators, maintain data integrity, and prepare regulatory returns and reports for EXCO, BOARD, and other stakeholders.
  3. Financial and risk management: Develop pricing models, set premium rates, monitor experience, and manage capital, solvency, and investment strategies.
  4. Team leadership: Manage, supervise, and develop staff, and lead the team to achieve targets.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Qualification: NQF Level 7, Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, with progress towards or completion of actuarial exams (qualified or nearly qualified).
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years in an insurance regulatory environment, with knowledge of life and non-life insurance, valuation, and regulatory acts (SAM, IFRS17).
  • Skills: Advanced Excel, reporting, leadership, and regulatory compliance expertise.
