Job Purpose

Drive profitability for Nedbank by leading effective recoveries and loss mitigation within the Debt Counselling Department, through empowering high-performance teams, fostering innovation and ensuring operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities
  • Achieve Debt Counselling targets by setting individual goals, managing resources, monitoring performance and initiating corrective actions aligned with national benchmarks and market trends.
  • Achieve financial and operational objectives including provisions and impairments through effective planning such as forecasting and budgeting, continuous performance monitoring and evaluation and the execution of targeted action plans.
  • Identify and implement innovative strategies for debt recovery by enhancing collection techniques and leveraging efficient, streamlined operational processes.
  • Optimise profitability through efficient cost management, timely follow-ups and decisive action.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of team outputs by enforcing turnaround times, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee external stakeholders to maintain SLA compliance and manage associated performance costs.
  • Deliver financial and operational targets by budgeting, monitoring and executing performance improvement plans.
  • Manage and develop staff performance through clear expectations, continuous feedback, recognition and corrective action.
  • Coach and mentor teams to address performance gaps and facilitate professional growth.
  • Promote team engagement by fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Build capability through ongoing development aligned with stakeholder expectations and future needs.
  • Support talent acquisition and retention by leading recruitment and development initiatives using Nedbank’s talent principles.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
  • Must have an LLB Degree and must be anAdmitted Attorney.
Minimum Experience Level
  • Must have 10 years or more in Banking
  • Must have 10 years or more experience in Debt Counselling
  • More than 6 years of being an Ops Head in Debt Counselling
  • Must have multiple product knowledge and Processes
  • Experience and understanding of Credit
