We're looking for a talented Head of Corporate Actuarial to join our dynamic team.

Reporting to the Executive Actuary, you'll be the driving force behind a high-performing team of actuarial professionals, ensuring that all life and non-life valuations are accurate, timely, and delivered with precision.

You will oversee the development and maintenance of our actuarial valuation system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

This role also involves producing insightful reports to inform executive decisions and support business growth.

Job Context:

As our Head of Corporate Actuarial, you'll oversee our actuarial valuation system, ensuring its development, maintenance, and data integrity, while delivering accurate valuations and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the actuarial function, overseeing teams working on COID and Life Business, and supporting IT systems.
  2. Prepare and review monthly valuation data.
  3. Apply ORSA methodology and SAM processes.
  4. Maintain data integrity and respond to regulatory queries.
  5. Plan and budget actuarial activities, including financial projections.
  6. Report on actuarial and regulatory matters to management and the Board.
  7. Develop pricing models and set premium rates.
  8. Develop and maintain actuarial systems.
  9. Monitor experience in reserving and pricing.
  10. Manage capital, solvency, and reinsurance processes.
  11. Prepare regulatory reports such as ORSA and SAM.
  12. Lead and develop staff, and manage stakeholder relationships.
  13. Ensure regulatory compliance and timely submission of reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science (NQF Level 7).
  • Qualified Actuary, member of relevant professional bodies.
Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years in insurance regulation, 5+ years in actuarial valuations.
  • Proficiency in Excel, insurance knowledge, reporting, and experience with life and non-life insurance.
  • Knowledge of SAM, IFRS17, and actuarial guidelines.
