We’re Hiring: Head Chef at MATH Restaurant

About MATH:

We’re now looking for a Head Chef to lead our kitchen team into its next chapter.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re searching for a culinary leader with vision, discipline, and a deep understanding of both flavour and food culture. You’re not just a chef — you’re a storyteller, a mentor, and a perfectionist with creative edge.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and inspire a growing team of chefs and kitchen staff
  2. Oversee all kitchen operations, including menu development, inventory, and cost control
  3. Develop seasonal, innovative menus that reflect the MATH ethos — bold, contemporary, globally influenced
  4. Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and consistency
  5. Work closely with the owner and front-of-house team to deliver a unified guest experience
  6. Foster a collaborative and professional kitchen culture with a strong focus on training and growth

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a senior kitchen role, preferably as Head Chef or Sous Chef in a high-end or high-volume environment
  • A proven track record in menu creation, cost management, and kitchen leadership
  • Excellent knowledge of global cuisines and modern cooking techniques
  • Strong leadership, communication, and time-management skills
  • Experience working in Johannesburg’s hospitality scene is a bonus
