Duties and Responsibilities

Academic Management

1. Create and manage the implementation of the campus academic delivery plan in collaboration with the Head of Faculties, Teaching and Learning Specialist, Educational Technologist, Lecturers, Academic Support Coordinators, Information Specialist, and Assistant Information Specialist.
2. Achieve greater student success by analyzing academic results, reporting on risks, and implementing strategies.
3. Improve student retention through quality support interventions and resilience strategies.
4. Continuously measure the effectiveness of student support initiatives.
5. Manage and develop the lecturing team, focusing on upskilling, scholarship, module allocation, and workload management.
6. Ensure equity in academic delivery across all schools.
7. Ensure compliance with The Independent Institute of Education policies and procedures.
8. Engage with national portfolio heads regarding academic performance and compliance.
9. Promote a community of best academic practices on campus.
10. Utilize evidence and data to assess the campus's academic status.
11. Handle student disputes and academic complaints.
12. Address lecturer queries and participate in action research related to academic issues.
13. Coordinate and plan annual lecturer awards and student awards events.
14. Manage academic support and lecturer budgets.
15. Collaborate with other senior managers to ensure customer satisfaction.
16. Assist the national team with academic projects.
17. Oversee internal and external academic audits.
18. Participate in management meetings.

Academic Staff Management

1. Recruit permanent and part-time academic staff.
2. Ensure new staff are adequately trained regarding their roles, processes, policies, and procedures.
3. Manage the line supervision of academic staff, clearly communicating roles and responsibilities.
4. Coordinate the development of the academic team.

Lecturing

1. Teach one undergraduate module per semester or one postgraduate module per year, or supervise postgraduate students, depending on capacity.
2. Engage in formal research activities, which may require teaching one undergraduate module annually.

Research and Scholarship

1. Plan, manage, and review research targets, adjusting as necessary to meet output goals.
2. Report annually on research achievements and qualifications of academic staff to the National Academic Manager.
3. Promote a culture of scholarship within the practice, discipline, and team.
4. Contribute to the institution’s research output targets, with individual targets set annually.
