Job Description
An established and respected boutique law firm based in Bryanston is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Bookkeeper to join their team on a half-day basis (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM).
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who thrives in a professional, team-oriented environment and enjoys the structure and routine of accounting within the legal sector. You'll play a vital role in managing the firm's financial operations, particularly trust account compliance and statutory reporting, while working with a friendly and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
• End-to-end payroll processing, including EMP201, EMP501 & IRP5 submissions via Easyfile
• WCC - COIDA Return of Earnings and Department of Labour compliance
• Bi-monthly VAT calculations and submissions via eFiling
• Trust account management, including transfers and reconciliations
• Handling Fidelity Fund and Legal Practice Council submissions and trust audit refunds
• Daily banking functions
• Working on Legalsuite software for financial and trust accounting
• Provisional tax calculations and preparation
• Management accounts and partner profit splits
• GoAML reporting for FICA compliance (training can be provided)
• Oversight of business and investment account transfers
• Creditor invoice processing and reconciliations, including Advocates' accounts
• Assisting with debtors and client invoicing, as needed
Requirements:
• 3-5 years' bookkeeping experience, ideally within a legal or professional services environment
• Accreditation with a recognised bookkeeping institute (e.g. ICB) is highly advantageous
• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance
• Solid experience in bookkeeping up to trial balance
• Proficient in Legalsuite, Excel, and eFiling platforms
• Highly efficient, organised, and trustworthy
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-first approach
• Reliable daily access to the Bryanston area
