Job summary

A client in the chemical supply sector is seeking an experienced half-day, on-site, Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial record-keeping and month-end preparations on a 3-month fixed-term contract. The position ensures accurate, timely financial transactions and reconciliations to enable seamless reporting by the accountant.

This in-office position is suited to an experienced professional capable of managing accounting functions autonomously. The successful candidate will maintain complete accuracy across ledger accounts, VAT submissions, and vendor balances while ensuring data confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Capture and reconcile daily financial transactions accurately to maintain up-to-date accounting records.
• Process supplier and customer invoicing, including active follow-ups on outstanding balances.
• Perform regular bank and creditor reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE, and SARS submissions for final review and filing by the accountant.
• Compile accurate monthly financial figures and documentation to support the accountant's reporting requirements.
  

Requirements

• Experienced in South African bookkeeping experience, ideally to trial balance level.
  
• Relevant certification, diploma or degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping.
