Job Description & Summary

PwC has recently launched the South African Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC), focused on innovating and deploying technology solutions for our global clients. The Guidewire team plays a vital role in this growth and reputation management, and will be central to change initiatives in the coming years.

About the Role

We are offering several opportunities across various roles within our expanding Guidewire / Insurance team. As a Guidewire Developer, you will participate in gathering business requirements, review meetings, and designing solutions based on user stories for Guidewire projects.

Your responsibilities include estimating development efforts during sprint planning, configuring and integrating solutions, and developing, testing, and documenting software solutions as per requirements.

Senior Developer Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality software solutions following Guidewire best practices.
  • Create test data and unit tests to ensure requirements are met.
  • Perform defect triage and fixes during testing phases.
  • Ensure compliance with non-functional, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare and release software updates.
  • Engage in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to support new opportunities.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to team process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of software development experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the Insurance domain, preferably Property & Casualty / General Insurance.
  • At least 2 years working with Guidewire InsuranceSuite products (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, or Digital Portals) in configuration or integration.
  • Proficiency in GOSU, Java 5 / J2EE, Web Services, XML, SQL, Gradle, Spring, Hibernate, Castor, REST/JSON, and Enterprise Messaging Systems.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Git, SVN, Source Tree, Perforce, or Plastic, and ticketing tools like Azure DevOps, JIRA, or HPQC.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and SDLC processes is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Client-facing and design experience.
  • Expertise in Product Designer / Rating integration.
  • Guidewire Certification on the latest version.
