Our client is seeking a Group Project Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and managing large-scale strategic projects, ensuring successful project execution from planning through to completion. This role involves coordinating multiple projects, managing cross-functional teams, optimizing project resources, and ensuring safety compliance and cost control. The incumbent will play a crucial role in aligning project goals with the Group’s overall strategy and objectives while maintaining timelines, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the project execution framework, lead strategic projects, manage plans, budgets, timelines, and resources, and coordinate with external consultants for timely delivery.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary project team, provide leadership and mentorship, oversee cross-department collaboration, chair quarterly project meetings, guide operations, manage Growth and Strategic Development projects, and retain key project skills.
- Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenses, address financial risks, and implement cost-control strategies.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, enforce safety protocols, ensure compliance with regulations, oversee safety inspections, and promote a safety-first culture.
- Serve as the main contact for project stakeholders, present progress reports to senior management, communicate with local communities, and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Ensure mining projects comply with laws and regulations, liaise with government agencies and stakeholders to meet environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Oversee procurement for strategic projects, evaluate and select contractors and suppliers, and manage contracts and vendor relationships to maximize value and minimize risk.
- Establish and enforce quality control standards, assess project deliverables for compliance, and ensure all outputs meet safety, technical, and environmental standards.
- Ensure strategic projects meet environmental guidelines, promote sustainability initiatives, and implement systems for waste management, water conservation, and land reclamation.
Requirements: Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) and a Tertiary qualification in Project Management.
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project management within the mining industry.
- Proven experience managing large-scale mining projects, ideally in both surface and underground operations, with a strong track record in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects from inception to completion.
- Extensive knowledge of mining processes, equipment, technologies, geological and environmental assessment procedures, and strong financial and budgeting expertise.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, SAP).
- Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills, with effective negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution abilities for stakeholder collaboration.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, capable of managing multiple projects while delivering quality results and making decisions aligned with organizational goals.
