Junior Group Legal Counsel / Junior Group Legal Officer

(In-House Legal)

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), most of which has been gained in an in-house legal environment, at a recognised law firm or within a relevant corporate environment, with exposure to commercial and/or corporate law.


• Working knowledge of the Companies Act, King V, JSE Listing Requirements is advantageous

Role Purpose

Provide business-focused legal support to the Group by drafting and reviewing commercial agreements, advising on regulatory and governance compliance and assisting with risk management for a JSE‑listed group. The role includes supporting corporate transactions, managing legal queries across business units and contributing to legal operations improvements such as contract automation and digital workflows. This position is ideal for an admitted attorney with strong commercial law grounding who wants to grow in an in‑house environment and gain exposure to listed‑company compliance and legal tech enablement. The role supports the Group Legal Officer in managing corporate governance, regulatory matters and day‑to‑day legal operations to safeguard 4Sight’s interests and enable business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, relevant and timely legal advice to executives and business units on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, ensuring guidance is practical and aligned with business objectives.


• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to protect the Group’s legal and commercial interests while balancing risk and operational needs.


• Prepare and maintain legal documents, templates and internal policies that promote consistency, compliance and efficiency across the Group.


• Assist with board and committee processes by drafting resolutions, preparing meeting packs and ensuring accurate recording of minutes in line with governance standards.


• Support compliance with the Companies Act, King IV principles and the Group’s governance framework through proactive monitoring and reporting.


• Monitor and implement compliance with JSE Listings Requirements including continuing obligations, disclosure requirements and corporate actions.


• Liaise with the Group’s sponsor or designated advisor on compliance and disclosure matters to maintain a strong and transparent relationship.


• Assist in the preparation and review of SENS announcements, shareholder communications and annual reports to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.


• Support due diligence and documentation for mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions, ensuring legal risks are identified and mitigated.


• Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical guidance on emerging laws, regulations and governance developments affecting the Group.


• Assist in developing and implementing internal governance and compliance policies that align with best practice and regulatory requirements.


• Coordinate and maintain statutory records, registers and corporate filings with CIPC and other authorities to ensure timely and accurate submissions.


• Manage and track legal risks, disputes and litigation matters in collaboration with external counsel, ensuring efficient resolution and cost control.


• Preserve and manage corporate records in accordance with statutory requirements and internal document retention policies.


• Provide training and awareness sessions on legal and compliance obligations to internal stakeholders to build a culture of compliance.


• Address employee queries on legal compliance and provide clear, practical guidance to support day‑to‑day operations.


• Collaborate with finance, operations and other functions to ensure legal input is integrated into projects, transactions and strategic initiatives.


• Maintain a knowledge base of legal precedents, templates and guidance notes to support consistency and continuous improvement within the legal function.
