A leading automotive manufacturer in Pinetown is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee production targets, manage logistics, and lead a team of operators. Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure meeting of production targets (Volume).
  2. Conduct daily start-up meetings (green areas) and Operations meetings (pre-action room meeting).
  3. Lead & develop operators.
  4. Manage staff time and attendance, plan absentee cover, and control manpower.
  5. Identify quality defects and supervise implementation of countermeasures in logistics.
  6. Meet logistics quality targets.
  7. Ensure receipt, proper binning, and allocation of all parts.
  8. Balance stock using the MRP system.
  9. Issue work-in-progress parts and complete shortage reports.
  10. Perform stock adjustments.
  11. Ensure timely delivery of parts to the line as per schedule and picking list.
  12. Log shortages and follow up on availability.
  13. Drive continuous improvement activities, e.g., Kaizen, quality improvement plans.
  14. Follow safe work practices and implement health & safety measures.
  15. Implement and coordinate the 5S concept, meeting zone-specific targets.
  16. Implement lean manufacturing principles within the department.
  17. Contribute actively to monthly production and efficiency targets.
  18. Participate in operations room meetings and investigate production deviations, reporting countermeasures.
  19. Follow ISO procedures and protocol book instructions.
  20. Log and follow up on parts shortages.
  21. Maintain housekeeping standards in the production plant.
  22. Coordinate with Logistics and Magic to action identified new stillages and update records.
  23. Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding stock discrepancies.
  24. Ensure parts are identified and traceable in logistics.
  25. Ensure operators follow protocol book instructions and comply with QF processes.
  26. Investigate deviations to quality targets and define countermeasures.
  27. Focus on waste reduction and minimize consumable use.
  28. Support all Kaizen activities.
  29. Ensure equipment maintenance and minimize reworks and scrap.
  30. Ensure staff understand process information and work instructions.
  31. Understand and implement customer production change requests.
  32. Monitor quality and quantity checks through sequencing.
  33. Handle disciplinary issues, poor performance, misconduct, and attendance.
  34. Develop operators to maximize performance via ILU.
  35. Motivate staff and appraise operator performance.
  36. Facilitate daily green area meetings and update visual boards.
  37. Enforce compliance with health, safety, and PPE rules.
  38. Report machine breakdowns promptly.
  39. Maintain good 5S and housekeeping practices.
  40. Ensure machines have safety guards, signs, and instructions.
  41. Ensure the correct PPE is worn at all times.
  42. Address unsafe working conditions immediately.
