Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver an over-arching industrial relations strategy with the key focus on modernising Trade Union relationships
  • Own and develop relationships with senior officials
  • Support the Head of HR, People Business Partners and line managers in negotiations with Trade Unions on a wide range of company issues
  • Design and develop IR policy, processes and tools to deliver required changes at all levels of the organisation
  • Set direction, create policy and offer expert advice in all matters relating to collective bargaining and corporate-wide industrial relations issues
  • Negotiate mandates for use across all bargaining groups
  • Build IR skills and expertise across the People department, including capabilities in employment legislation and industrial agreements
  • Co-ordinate and integrate all IR activity across the business into a coherent plan
  • Support and align cultural and behavioural change necessary for all corporate IR programmes
  • Foster strong links with external networks and share best practices in the field of Industrial Relations
  • Provide a dedicated IR advisory service to management, line managers and employees
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures and employment legislation are adhered to
  • Advise on, facilitate, execute and implement the applicable IR practices, policies and procedures relating to disciplinary cases, grievances, consultations and conflict and dispute resolution, absence management, identifying risks and providing assistance with preventative measures
  • Ensure compliance with Labour Legislation such as the Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Compensation for Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Labour Legislation in respect of all service providers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in HR / IR (NQF level 6)
  • Experience presenting in Labour Court
  • 5 to 10 years IR experience
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of IR within a SA context
  • Computer Literacy
  • Excellent knowledge of current Labour Law
  • Demonstrated experience of CCMA and Labour Court
  • Knowledge and practice, policies and procedures
  • Written and verbal contracts
  • Express and implied ethical responsibilities
