The Divisional Operations and Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of Flash Group. This includes overseeing accurate and timely transactional processing, managing month-end close deadlines, ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet and income statement, maintaining strong internal controls, and optimising working capital.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review monthly management packs and statutory reports for the holding company, including preparation and presentation of variance analyses.
• Review divisional cost centres and engage with non-financial managers to support effective expense management.
• Collaborate with Financial Analysts (FAs) and Finance Managers (FMs) to prepare monthly forecasts that reflect performance trends and support forward-looking FinTech strategy.
• Review quarterly reporting packs for the holding company and provide insightful trend analyses.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of provisional tax calculations and annual tax returns for all entities.
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and three-year planning processes, including statutory submissions for the Flash Group.
• Conduct month-to-month (MTM) and year-to-date (YTD) variance analyses for Executive Committee (Exco) and General Managers (GMs).
• Partner with GMs and FAs to identify and address financial requirements aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives.
• Ensure all financial processing complies with IFRS standards and local income tax legislation.
• Manage the timely delivery of monthly management accounts, adhering to strict month-end deadlines.
• Review and challenge annual budgets and three-year plans, providing strategic, value-added financial insights.
• Oversee all internal and external audit processes, ensuring full compliance and audit readiness.
• Take ownership of the annual group insurance renewal process and BBBEE compliance submissions.
• Work with the Divisional Head of Finance to develop and implement the financial strategy for the division.
• Act as a backup for all Finance Managers (FMs) as needed to ensure continuity of operations.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• CA(SA) with 7–10 years of post-articles experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior finance operations or controllership role.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity group consolidations across complex organisational structures
• Experience working in a listed company environment is preferred.
• Industry experience in FinTech, Financial Services, or high-growth digital businesses is advantageous.
  
  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end processes, and reconciliations
• Experience in managing GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
• Ability to prepare, review, and interpret management accounts and variance analysis
• Knowledge of VAT, tax provisions, and statutory compliance (beneficial)
• High standards of integrity, accountability, and ownership
