Our client, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a Group Financial Manager based in the Newlands area of Cape Town, a well-known suburb located on the southern side of the city, near Table Mountain, Claremont, and Rondebosch.
They specialize in delivering sustainable energy solutions to Commercial and Industrial clients. Their projects span across Southern Africa, and they also offer operations and maintenance, asset management, metering, and monitoring services through various divisions.

Duties:
- Ensure quality control and integrity over all financial transactions, compliance, and monthly financial reporting.
- Manage revenue recognition on various project contracts according to IFRS15.
- Review income statements and balance sheets monthly, ensuring accurate reports for management.
- Submit monthly and ad hoc group reports, including information for consolidation systems.
- Prepare management reports accurately and timely each month.
- Allocate costs accurately at cost center and project levels.
- Assess and improve financial processes and systems.
- Develop margin analysis tools and reports within deadlines.
- Facilitate discussions with operations based on margin analyses.
- Provide decision-useful financial information to operations and management.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital.
- Enhance forecasting models and tools.
- Provide strategic input based on financial results.
- Reconcile balance sheet items monthly and annually.
- Review payments and reconciliations (VAT, EMP, wages, suppliers, etc.).
- Lead and manage the finance team effectively.
- Oversee month-end processing, reconciliations, checklists, and work calendars.
- Ensure all finance deadlines are met daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Oversee year-end closing procedures.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and business processes.
- Prepare audit files and facilitate statutory audits.
- Manage foreign payments, currency hedging, and forex accounting.
- Handle insurance-related tasks, ensuring policies are current and adequate.
- Liaise with insurance brokers, banks, auditors, and landlords.
- Manage cash flow, including forecasts.
- Provide backup support for the Group Financial Controller when needed.
- Perform other duties and projects within the finance department as required.

- Matric (Garde 12)
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed SAICA Articles at any of the BIG 5 audit firms.
- Minimum of 4 years post-article experience in industry.
- At least 2 years of management experience.
Skills & Competencies:
- Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to deliver results and meet deadlines.
- Experience in financial management within the construction industry and/or renewables is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in SAP Business One is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (intermediate or higher).
- Ability to handle high volume, stress, and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective people management skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, energetic, and confident.
